With a host of Angels anything and everything is possible! (Success story! : Malwande Mahlangeni)

With a host of Angels anything and everything is possible!

One day I hope to be President! states Malwande,  a confident and courageous nine-year-old boy who attends Summerwood Primary School in Fairmount, Johannesburg.

Malwande Mahlangeni

Malwande, a new patient on board with Roger Wolfson and Associates since February 2017, was born with a congenital deformity known as Amniotic Band Syndrome, a rare birth defect. This condition, also known as Amniotic Band Sequence or ADAM complex affects the developing foetus in utero and causes entrapment of foetal parts in fibrous amniotic bands that usually affect the developing limbs or digits.

Angels on a mission

In Malwande’s case, his left leg was affected by the disorder and as a result, his leg was amputated below the knee when he was only two years old.

Seven years later, Malwande’s prosthetic leg, which no longer fitted him properly, was desperately in need of being replaced with a new prosthetic leg and foot.

Says Roger:  Prosthetics in children need to be replaced regularly as a child grows. In Malwande’s case, the need to be fitted with a new prosthetic leg and foot was a huge priority.

Teacher Angel – code name: Miss K

Shortly after Malwande’s first consultation with Roger Wolfson and Associates, his teacher at Summerwood Primary, Pam Kantor (fondly known as Miss K) wasted no time in rallying a host of Angels as it were, to make a wish come true in doing anything and everything possible to fulfil Malwande’s prosthetic needs.

During March, Pam set off on her mission to raise funds to help Malwande’s family pay for the new prosthetics.  She asked other teachers at the school to help her obtain the required funding, and embarked on a dedicated campaign to get the word out.

A little boy’s wish-come-true!

A few weeks later, on 3 April 2017, a little boy’s wish came true! Says Pam, bubbling with excitement.

A few months ago, I posted the story about a little boy named Sipho on my Facebook timeline. Well, this little boy’s name is actually Malwande. This post told the story of this brave little boy who has endured so much, yet, never gives up.

Malwande had a wooden leg that was totally broken, yet, he still found the courage to walk with it every day.

Many wishes come true

Continues Pam: During the past few weeks many of my wishes have come true.

The first wish to be granted was that I was shown that there are real life Angels out there who are willing to take flight and do whatever it takes to help. They know who they are and I thank them all for being part of the host of angels that enthusiastically joined our mission to help Malwande and make anything and everything possible.

The second wish to be granted came in the form of Malwande my boykie, being fitted with his new, real prosthetic leg. He asked me to put a special post on Facebook to thank everyone involved for their support and love and I had the greatest privilege in fulfilling this next wish without delay.

Thank you Roger Wolfson, a real-life Super Hero Angel and a real mensch, for making wishes come true with your generous support and the beautiful leg, we have no words!

Malwande with Roger Wolfson – a team effort to get this little boy Walking comfortably

To those who kindly donated funds towards the creation of Malwande’s new leg, you are all  Angels and I look forward to meeting you all soon to thank you in person, Pam confirms.

Angels to attend a special event

An upcoming special event to thank the  Angels who helped do anything and everything possible to create Malwande’s new leg will be held at Summerwood Primary School on 19 May, 2017.

Malwande is such a special boy and shows a great deal of courage. Says Pam.

It wouldn’t surprise me at all if Malwande decided to run for President one day, his favourite subjects at school are English and Maths which is definitely a good start!  she exclaims!
