Knee Braces

Knee braces are appliances used for knee support and protection

Knee braces and orthoses range from patella sleeves to protective braces. They are mainly used in sport and protect minor injuries from further damage which can result in injuries that need corrective surgery.

Most knee braces can be custom-made by Roger Wolfson.

JR OA Offloader

The JR OA Offloader knee brace was designed to cater for medical conditions such as osteoarthritis.

Osteoarthritis is usually caused by a lack of joint space.  The JR OA Offloader knee brace was designed to absorb the pressure from the painful part of the knee by loading the pressure to the good part of the injured knee.  The JR OA Offloader knee brace helps to achieve normal functioning without pain and enables the removal of pain without the need for surgery.

TED Post Surgical Stockings

T.E.D. anti-embolism stockings are clinically proven to reduce the incidence of Deep Vein Thrombosis by up to 50% and to promote increased blood flow velocity in the legs by 138% of baseline by compression of the deep venous system.

T.E.D. anti-embolism stockings have also been clinically proven to prevent the damaging effects of venous distension that occurs during surgery and hospitalization. T.E.D. anti-embolism stockings apply the clinically-proven graduated pressure pattern of 18mmHg at the ankle, 14mmHg at the calf, 8mmHg at the popliteal artery(close to the patella joint), 10mmHg at the lower thigh and 8mmHg at the upper thigh.

It is important to measure the patients leg size to assure that the appropriate pressure pattern is applied.

T.E.D. anti-embolism stockings are available in:

Compression Stockings

Available from Roger Wolfson and Associates, Compression stockings are a specialized hosiery designed to help prevent the occurrence of and guard against further progression of venous disorders such as edema, phlebitis and thrombosis. Compression stockings are elastic garments worn around the leg, compressing the limb. This reduces the diameter of distended veins and increases venous blood flow velocity and valve effectiveness. Compression therapy helps decrease venous pressure, prevents venous stasis and impairments of venous walls, and relieves heavy and aching legs.

Knee-high compression stockings are used not only to help increase circulation, but also to help prevent the formation of blood clots in the lower legs. They also aid in the treatment of ulcers of the lower legs.

Unlike traditional dress or athletic stockings and socks, compression stockings use stronger elastics to create significant pressure on the legs, ankles and feet. Compression stockings are tightest at the ankles and gradually become less constrictive toward the knees and thighs. By compressing the surface veins, arteries and muscles, they force circulating blood through narrower channels. As a result, the arterial pressure is increased, which causes more blood to return to the heart and less blood to pool in the feet.
